‘Sister Wives’ Christine Brown’s Memoir Drops Early: Fans Say It Exposes Kody’s Biggest Betrayals

Sister Wives star Christine Brown’s memoir, originally set to debut in early September, has landed on shelves early at some retailers. Fans who purchased advance copies said it exposes her ex-husband, Kody Brown’s, most shocking betrayals.

According to her publisher’s website, Christine’s book, Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom, is officially scheduled for release on September 2. However, eagle-eyed fans found copies already on sale at their local booksellers, and quickly took to social media, and spilled the tea surrounding some of the biggest untruths seen on the family’s series.

A press release about the book states, “In this candid tell-all, Christine shares for the first time the journey that led her away from polygamy and the bold path she is carving to live apart from all she has ever known. Moving, genuine, and insightful, this is a uniquely powerful tour de force of Christine’s journey toward and beyond her time in the spotlight as a sister wife.”

PEOPLE Magazine reported that the Sister Wives star first shared the news that she had written a memoir on Instagram on February 4. “It is gritty and honest as I tell my story living polygamy as a child, to my marriage and family life,” Christine wrote about the book’s contents on Instagram.

However, according to a Sister Wives Reddit thread, fans who already purchased the book claim that many of the events depicted on the TLC series didn’t tell the real truth about the Browns. Her version of events shed light on some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding the former polygamist family throughout its 20 seasons.

Fans deduced that longstanding rumors surrounding the family had been true for years. Keeping up a happy facade continued to keep fans interested in the series, rather than exposing any behind-the-scenes turmoil that would have turned viewers away.

Biggest alleged bombshells

For example, one Redditor claimed that per Christine, the family filmed “every other day” and had to be “careful what they said or the facial expressions they made because if they said something Kody or Robyn Brown didn’t like, he would “punish” them by not seeing them at all.”

Additionally, Christine appeared to confirm a longstanding fan belief that the family left Las Vegas to move to Flagstaff, Arizona, because Robyn wouldn’t let her son, Dayton Brown, attend college in the state alone. A Redditor reported the family found out the truth “two months” after the move, and Kody allegedly told the wives they were relocating due to a “professional football team moving to Vegas.”

The thread also discussed a long-standing feud between Christine and Meri Brown, which ultimately led to the end of their friendship. Meri reportedly disciplined Mykelti Brown after she allegedly embarrassed her child, Leon Brown, by being short on cash at a store and asking the owner to help with the difference (which was pennies).

Early readers added that Christine also discussed her intimate relationship with Kody. She alleges he shared their personal marriage issues with his wife, Robyn, who reportedly gave her sister wives advice on best tending to his needs in that regard.

When did Christine leave Kody Brown?

Paedon Brown, Christine’s only son with Kody, previously shared details that corroborated many of the stories in her book. He was interviewed by John Yates in 2023, pulling the curtain back on life within the Brown family.

Other family members, including Kody’s exes Janelle Brown and Meri Brown, have offered some public insight into their relationships. However, neither has elaborated on many of the storylines shown on the series.

In November 2021, Christine announced via Instagram that she had left Kody after 25 years of a spiritual marriage. On the series, Christine discussed the main reasons for her leaving, including that Kody was no longer attracted to her, his alleged neglect of their children, and her feeling that she lacked a true partner in their marriage.

Janelle exited her union in 2022, and Meri in 2023. Today, Kody is legally married to Robyn.

Christine, Kody, Janelle, Meri, and Robyn Brown are all featured on Season 20 of Sister Wives. A press release reveals the new season debuts beginning Sunday, September 28, at 10 p.m. on TLC.
